History

Characterised by turbulence, Bulgarian history is a story of emergence, subjugation and determined re-emergence. Paleolithic, Neolithic, Thracian, Greek, Persian, Macedonian, Roman, Slav, Bulgar, Byzantine, Mediaeval, Ottoman, Bulgarian, Balkan War, World War, Communism, Democracy and the EU all have their part in the story.

Geography

Bulgarian Geography is rich and diverse with varied topography from the Coastal regions of the Black Sea, the fertile lowlands of the Danubian and Thracian plains to the dramatic Mountains of the Pirin, Rila, Rhodopi, Balkan and Sredna Gora ranges. Settlers have made their homes here to leave us with the villages, towns and cities of the present day.

Culture

Rich in Culture and steeped in traditions from the many different ethnic groups that have influenced the Bulgarian lands over the centuries.
